Mayle

i fell in love with the pretty clothes the first time  laid  my eyes on them, so like the quintessential 17-year old of this generation, i googled Mayle and there it was. I spent the rest of my college days going to thrift shop after thrift shop hunting down clothes that scream "MAYLE!!" I guess Jane Mayle's aesthetic had something in common with mine. I loved every piece she made. Remember my Virgin Suicides fashion moment? Yes. The Lisbon sisters would definitely wear Mayle. However, the line has been discontinued, for reasons purely Jane.

“We knew we didn’t want to reinvest in the neighborhood,” Mayle said of the store’s impending lease expiration,  “…the industry has changed so much, and the little niche we entered when I started the brand, and the demands in this niche have changed, so I asked myself, ‘Do I want to keep participating?’”

I WILL miss Mayle. And I will always be her wingwoman.

Dear God,

His New Year's Resolution

Stop dressing like crap. Ever the supportive girlfriend... Ta-dah! Anyway, Paddy dearest, I think you're onto something with the loafers. Chuck Bass kept wearing loafers. Even on the beach! Hahaha.. Good boy. So.. Yeah. Here. They're all pretty shitty as compared to the other stuff I make, but we're not about the presentation, right? So here. Happy Shopping. (though i'd prefer you spend your cash on me, but that's just me.) Meloves you.

Casual Saturdays
I know you wanna don those loafers so there you go.
Loafers look best with dark colored shorts and those collared shirts you wanted.
Best get loafers in neutral colors or colors you'd most likely want in your wardrobe.
You love your aviators, I know.
But more than me?
Maybe.
[can also be used for school, so you don't get too sloppy.]

After Soccer Practice
I know you get cranky, lazy, and sweaty.
So shorts, slippers, and a graphic tee will do.
White shirts, black print.
Black, leather slippers.
Walk shorts are best here because they add polish to the slippers and shirt combination.
BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE WALK SHORTS PRINTS!
Again, less is more.
Add Ralph Lauren for extra oomph.
Hanging Out with Your Favorite Girl
*cough cough
I cannot stress anymore on the importance of white shirts.
Or any shirt in a good, solid color.
If you find a shirt that fits you perfectly, BUY THEM IN EVERY (GOOD) FREAKIN' COLOR!
Dark jeans look sexy. Swear.
They even make your Stan Smiths look better.
A good sweater makes a difference. You were right about the stripes, love. So go!
Can be used for "lab days" for school.
As well as family things.
Remember: Throw on that cardigan/jacket!
They make all the difference between "school" and "occasion".
Accessorize! That's why you have TWO watches.
Aviators still rule.
P.S. If you still use that green backpack of yours, now's the best time to say buhbye.
Opt for a good messenger bag.
Preferrably in dark colors so it doesn't show when it's dirty.
******
I know I sound bossy, but I'd still like you even if you wore a sheet.Wait. I'd actually PREFER the sheet. Hahaha.. Kidding. Tap. Tap. Tap. :))

baby likes reading (people)

I seriously should be studying math. But it's free internet day. And this is probably the last time I could avail of it. Soo yeah. Anywho...

UPDATE ME:

Finals are tomorrow. And I still can't do operations on algebraic expressions.

I need one final D-spree with my ECOWS. Xao graduates this sem. Which reminds me, we'll probably be displaced people with no tambayan. And I still need to get the pics and videos form his lappytop.

My flight home's on the 19th. I can't, can't wait.
Oh, effers. I need to pack.

I have sexygorgeous, still unpaid, ankle boots that did NOT cost me a fortune.
I need new tights and leggings stat.

I got the new 17. Heart Evangelista is still seriously confusing and eyebrow-raising.
Reading her interviews made go "What the..?!??!".

FOLIO!!!!!!!!! AAAGH.
Me likes playing with my swatches though.

Highlight of my week: YVETTE"S DEBUT.
Gosh.
So much fun.
Everyone was guzzling tonic water and gin, brandy, red wine, and that tough drink (vodka?) for her 18 shots.
CT blockmates were part of the 18 shots!!!!!!
[Drink. Make a face.]
Met cool, new people. [Pauline! Transfer to UP na.].
I taught my blockmates the spoon trick. Spoon trick's rad fun.

Grin quotes from the party:
Yvette is like a balloon, 'cuz she's fly.-random funny dude
If Yvette was a fruit, she'd be a cherry, 'cuz it's my favorite. -Olly

Meet my muses.

"We knew the girls were really women in disguise. Thay they understood love, & even death, & that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them. "

I just gushed over the books. And now I'm on the prowl for virgin suicide fashion. I'm hell bent on it too. Presenting: My new fashionspiration.... [who knew such a morbid book could turn into my new fashion persona?? MUST.THRIFT.SHOP.NOW.]

Hello world

Thanks to my Style.com newsletter, I got a glimpse or two of what's up for Spring 2009. Browsing through, look what i found!

Joanne Cordero Reyes

Filipino designer to watch out for! Whooot! (Move over Monique?)

Vicente Villarin Is the New Girl in Town
Don't be surprised when a raven-haired woman takes a bow at the close of the Vicente Villarin show on September 5. New York fashion week newcomer Joanne Cordero Reyes (no relation to Brian or José Ramón) named her business after her grandfather, a classical composer.
-Style.com

Don’t be fooled by the name Vicente Villarin. These feminine designs are actually the creation of female Filipino designer Joanne Reyes. Named after her grandfather, the Vicent Villarin brand represents Sophistication, Confidence, Elegance, Individuality and Modernity; women that want to feel pretty and elegant yet modern and sexy.
-asaincemagazine.com

This may be Joanne Cordero's first time at Fashion Week under her own label, Vicente Villarin, but the designer is no novice. She cut her teeth at Reem Acra and J. Mendel, making eveningwear for celebs. And this season she's showing at Bumble and bumble, home of the next big thing (Alexander Wang, Sari Gueron, and Bruce all showed there a year ago). Reyes's training with red-carpet designers is readily apparent in the clean, long lines of her gowns. But Reyes adds her own edge to the usual feminine piece. Her pencil skirt is done up in faux-alligator for a tougher, sexier look. Her take on the little white dress involves tulle and a shorter-than-short hemline. And her outerwear borders on architectural, rivaling Jil Sander. She may have learned to dress celebs, but only the truly style savvy (read: not governed by a stylist) will slip into these clothes.

Don't you just love it when a Filipino puts us on the map?
